We have all heard of a full stack web developer but did you know there is a full stack embedded developer?
Full Stack Embedded
Today many embedded devices include website hosting. This could be webpage for your 3D printer for uploading and monitoring print jobs, or it could be a webpage for checking the status of your toast. These type of embedded devices can be Internet of Things (IoT) devices but like the 3D printer they may not even connect to internet.
We have done various embedded design with and without internet access. For example one customer needed to have multiple users monitoring a piece of test equipment. The original thought was to have android application running on phones/tablets with blue tooth to monitor the device. They soon realized this would not work as expected from bandwidth and connection issues. The simple fix was the test equipment was fitted with a WiFi hot spot and users could connect and then through a web browser monitor the equipment. This removed the need for an Android app and allowed fast easy access for all that needed it.
Hence a full stack embedded developer is a full stack web developer but focused on embedded platforms. This means the full stack embedded guy must know various technologies and programming languages from Javascript to machine code as well as hardware design.
